Liquid Kakishibu or Powdered Kakishibu. Is there any difference in quality?

Home » Q&A » Liquid Kakishibu or Powdered Kakishibu. Is there any difference in quality?

-In terms of shelf life, grainy persimmon tannin is better. Granulated persimmon tannin can be dissolved in the required amount each time, so customers who only need a small amount can use it without waste.
(It may become less soluble as it ages in storage.)

-Since Tokusen Kakishibu is in liquid form, there is a possibility that it will gel during storage. (Currently, our persimmon tannin is packed in a pouch container with a spout. Although persimmon tannin is not suitable for long-term storage, if you remove the air from the pouch container, tighten the cap, and store it in a place away from heat and cold, the persimmon tannin seems to be less likely to gel than before).

-The smell of grainy persimmon tannin is less. When the coarse persimmon tannin is dissolved in boiling water, the smell is noticeable but becomes less pronounced as the water cools.
Tokusen persimmon tannin is less smelly than conventional persimmon tannin and is easier to use, but it does have a smell compared to granulated persimmon tannin.

-Concerning the concentration of persimmon tannin
Tokusen Kakishibu is made from persimmon with high astringency (persimmon tannin).
Therefore, if you dissolve the same amount of granulated persimmon tannin (30g of granulated persimmon tannin in 1L), the Tokusen Kakishibu will have a thicker persimmon tannin.
If you need a thicker solution of grainy persimmon tannin, you can dissolve it at a ratio of 50-60g per 1L.

-In terms of usability
Tokusen Kakishibu is in liquid form and can be used immediately.
If you want to use it right away, we recommend it. No need to dissolve granulated persimmon tannin. No need to dissolve granulated persimmon tannin.
