Precision Thread for Shibori Dyeing
This cotton-blend shibori thread is engineered as a precision dyeing tool for stitching and binding techniques in traditional Japanese shibori.
Developed in-house by a specialist shibori studio, the material ratio, yarn count, and twist have been carefully calibrated to deliver consistent tension and predictable resistance during the dyeing process.
The thread was renewed in 2023 to further improve control, durability, and handling accuracy.
Its balanced structure allows the thread to bite into the fabric evenly without cutting fibers, resulting in cleaner resist lines and more stable patterns.
While it can be cut by hand, it maintains the strength required for repeated wrapping, tightening, and immersion in dye.
