This is a pure silk braid.
This is a type of braided cord called karauchi.
Using 16 bobbins, this is an elegant cord with a fine braid.
In Japan, karauchi-himo is used to tie ornaments and costumes for temples and shrines, as well as Japanese style accessories.
The centre of the cord is hollow, giving it a soft texture.
