About the Collection

Indigo Occasion Wear is a contemporary clothing collection inspired by traditional Japanese shibori aesthetics, reinterpreted for modern occasion wear.

Designed in Japan, this collection is built around original shibori-inspired patterns created from actual hand-dyed and hand-tied shibori textiles.

Rather than using stock graphics or digitally simulated effects, each pattern begins with real shibori cloth—hand-folded, bound, and dyed using traditional techniques. These physical textiles are then carefully digitized and re-composed, preserving the irregular rhythm, depth, and organic movement unique to handwork.

While the finished garments are produced as printed textiles and are not hand-dyed, the patterns themselves originate from authentic, artist-created shibori fabric. This process allows the subtle variation, restrained contrast, and quiet presence of traditional indigo dyeing to be carried into contemporary, wearable forms—without imitation or surface decoration.
