About tenugui for business in JAPAN
In Japan, tenugui hand towels with company logos and other personalized information are distributed.
It is said that the origin of the personalized tenugui came from the tenugui with names distributed by kabuki actors to their patrons during the Edo period (1603-1868).
Following this custom, some companies and industries make it a custom to distribute tenugui to their clients at year-end and New Year’s holidays.
Even today, rakugo storytellers and sumo wrestlers continue the custom of giving tenugui as gifts.
