What is Edouchi Cord (Yatsu-Gumi)?
Edouchi is a traditional Japanese braiding technique, often known as “Yatsu-gumi” (8-strand braid). Made using eight bobbins, this structure allows for diverse color patterns—such as vertical stripes (Tatewake), spirals (Tazuna), and dotted motifs (Hotaru)—depending on how the threads are arranged.
At Atelier Miyabi, we offer Edouchi cords with a firm texture and excellent tension, perfect for jewellery making, knotting work, or elegant packaging.
Each cord is designed to hold knots beautifully, making it a favourite among artisans and crafters alike.
